ER Solar collaborated closely with the Cheltenham Golf Club board to deliver a bespoke 30kW solar solution, transforming their iconic clubhouse into a sustainable energy hub powering the entire site.
The process began with in-depth consultations and a comprehensive energy audit of the club’s historical usage patterns. This included reviewing electricity bills, peak demand periods (such as clubhouse lighting, air conditioning, kitchen appliances, pro shop operations, and irrigation systems), and overall consumption across the facility in Melbourne’s renowned sandbelt region.
By analysing these data points, we identified opportunities to offset a significant portion of the club’s energy needs through rooftop solar generation. The tailored system was optimally designed for the clubhouse roof orientation and available space, maximising exposure to Victoria’s abundant sunlight while ensuring seamless integration without compromising the aesthetic or structural integrity of the building.
This installation effectively turns the clubhouse into a “power station,” generating clean, renewable energy on-site to supply not only the clubhouse itself but also distribute power across the broader golf club grounds—including maintenance facilities, lighting, and other operational demands. The result is reduced reliance on grid electricity, substantial cost savings, lower carbon emissions, and enhanced energy resilience for the club, supporting its long-term sustainability goals in one of Australia’s premier golfing locations.
